AP Biology AP Environmental Science Bio-Ethics Biomedical Science Evolution of Scientific Thought Independent Research Microbiology Research Science Research Team After receiving his B.A. in Biology from the University of Michigan in 1966, he began teaching science to grades 7-9 in Kalamazoo Public Schools. In 1970, he began a 16-year teaching position with Portage Public Schools, during which time he attained his M.A. in Biology and a Specialist Degree in Life Science, both from Western Michigan University. In 1977, he was presented the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award from the National Science Teachers Association. In 1986 Dr. Goudie was one of the original three staff members of the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center. In 1988, he received his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. Educational leadership has always been the hallmark of John's teaching career. His workshop subjects for enriching science teachers have included techniques in electrophoresis, chromatography, biomedical science, radiation biology, molecular biology, microbiology, and even the use of the electron microscope at the high school level. Some of his most significant awards include: He is active in the summer, teaching summer workshops at KAMSC & Western Michigan University and is a board member of the National Consortium of Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology. |
